Despite the drizzle, we had many Heritage Open Day visitors, hosted by John, and nine volunteers carried out much useful work.
We welcomed new volunteers Freya and Ed who both work at COWI Engineers, the structural engineers that advise the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Together they joined Chris in vanquishing weeds and tidying up, whilst Howard and Pete prepared templates for the lower ring of oak blocks for the Brunel Lock capstan.
Roger and Andy valiantly dislodged the extensive caked rust-residue from our recent pintle-drilling operation, after which Geoff and Charlie started the laborious task of slitting the remaining part of the original adjuster prior to removal.
